The word Shanti means peace in Sanskrit. Shanti hopes to transport its guests to a more peaceful place with both the ambiance and the cuisine. At Shanti diners will find more than Indian cuisine, where they can also indulge in Bangladeshi style cooking known as Bhuna. Owner Solmon Chowdhury opened Shanti in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1999 to bring Indian food to Boston. Over a decade later, after adding locations in Roslindale, MA (2013) and Cambridge, MA (2016) with his wife Rokeya Chowdhury, Shanti Restaurant is said to be The Best Indian - Boston. Boston's Best Indian cuisine (2016) by Improper Bostonian, Best Indian cuisine (2016) by Boston A-List, and Best of Boston Indian cuisine (2012) by Boston Magazine. This husband and wife duo brings the freshest Indian food to Boston, with in-house freshly roasted spice mixes.
