Albi
Journey Through Albi's Wine List
Each month you'll receive a selection of wines drawn from Albi's constantly evolving list. Wine Director William Simons pens a list which is by turns bookish and irreverent, peppered with a variety of Shakespearean references, historical tidbits, a love letter to Serge Hochar and Chateau Musar, and quotes from Freddie Mercury, Emily Dickinson, and Estelle Costanza. The wines themselves originate from a diverse set of regions and winemaking styles, and grapes familiar and niche - always with a bent toward artisan producers whose wines speak loudly of place.
Drawing upon Albi's constantly evolving list, William will curate an eccentric selection of wines from categories such as Savory Whites, Smoky Reds, and #UnicornWines (White Wine Edition) - highlighting the under-represented, the underdogs, and the flat out delicious from across the wine world - Australia and South Africa, the West Coast, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Palestine, and every in between.

Albi; Arabic for my heart is the acclaimed debut restaurant from chef/owner Michael Rafidi. Opened in February 2020, Albi has received continued local and national attention, earning mentions on Best New Restaurant lists by Eater, Robb Report, and Esquire, Eater DC Restaurant of the Year in 2021, and earning a Michelin star in 2022. Chef Rafidi takes inspiration from his family's roots in the Levant region, bringing to the table an experience that melds the ancient tradition of the region's coal-fired cuisine with local, seasonal ingredients and a refined culinary acumen. YELLOW The Cafe, from Chef Michael Rafidi, offers a taste of the Levant with a menu of baked goods, mezze, wood-fired pita sandwiches, & specialty drinks. A highlight of the experience are sweet and savory pastries which blend French technique and Middle Eastern flavors. The coffee program is curated by Coffee Director Ayat Elhag & sourced by counter-culture.
